PATIENTS
Your First Visit
Upon your first visit with Dr. Janeen, you can expect to discuss your health history and goals of treatment.
She will perform a focused neurologic and orthopedic exam directed around your areas of concern and discuss with you the course of treatment that fits your lifestyle. She does not take images at her office but is very proficient in reading imaging so feel free to bring any copies you may have to your appt. She can refer you to have imaging done if that is something you'd like to obtain. Please note, Dr.Janeen does not perform aggressive adjustments so there is less risk associated with her approach than a typical fast paced chiropractic office. Since there is no therapeutic dose of ionizing radiation, she prefers not to send her patients for imaging unless therapy is providing no change, symptoms are worsening, or symptoms seem ominous.
Therapy is typically provided at the first visit to begin the healing process as soon as possible.
If you would like to utilize your insurance coverage for reimbursement, please let her know at the time of your initial treatment, and she will make a copy of your insurance card(s) along with your drivers license in order to help you process your claim. She is not in network with any insurance company, but will provide you with a "superbill" for you to submit for reimbursement.
Duration of assessment: typically 60-120 minutes (90 minutes is most common)
Insurance & VA Coverage
In order to keep the focus of care on you, Dr.Janeen is an Out-of-Network Provider (which means she does not accept insurance). As a courtesy, we will provide you with a superbill (invoice of appts and medical codes) to help you file with your insurance if you have Chiropractic care coverage. If additional paperwork is required, Dr. Janeen is not responsible for providing or completing that paperwork for you. Though, she will gladly help you navigate that paperwork. If you need her to complete your additional paperwork, she will do so for an additional fee as that is not factored into regular care.
With the addition of the Affordable Healthcare Act, many changes can be expected in regards to insurance coverage. Catastrophic coverage is more common but comes with higher deductibles and co-payments at time of service. It is important to understand that insurance is meant to help in times of medical crisis and may not always value preventative care. Preventative care is essential for early detection and can mean the difference in saving the big bucks when it comes time to utilize Western Medicine. We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your options for care.
What is the difference with In-Network and Out-of-Network Providers?
Most plans in NC have high deductibles, and typically no coverage is provided until you meet that annual deductible, whether your provider is In-Network or Out-of-Network. Reimbursement depends on the coverage plan you have with your insurance carrier.
Veteran's Affairs Practitioner:
Dr. Janeen is an approved practitioner through the Asheville VA and is currently not accepting referrals. If you are a veteran and are looking for Chiropractic and myofascial therapy, consult your primary care provider at the VA to see if you are eligible for covered treatment.
Testimonial
“I came to Dr. Hulbert with extensive pain in my elbow that radiated to my hands and fingers, and I was on the path of recovery after my first visit with her. She is excellent at what she does, very bright, competent and intellectually curious. She listened to my concerns and has a personality that makes it very easy to discuss issues with her. She loves her profession and it comes through in the quality of her work.”
